Cairo – Photographic Diaries

For me, Photography is not just about taking good photographs. It’s a way of experiencing life. I never thought about this picture is for while taking it. Thinking comes later. Sometimes I take a picture because I feel the intimacy of the moment : with a person, a place, a certain time of the day, or even with an idea, but later re-seeing the pictures again and again ascertains the first impression or neglects it, but in most of the cases I find out that my first impressions were right.
Cairo is a city in which I spent my whole life to-date : 32 years; Is not that enough time to have the feeling that? I should tell about it? I have never been outside Egypt, and for so long time for me Cairo was the city, the only city, and not even that : For me it was the world.
I call this project “Cairo Photographic diaries “ because re-looking on these pictures, I feel like reading them, and they were like a good novel or a collection of short stories, or even poems, but to be more precious : they were diaries.

بالنسبة لي, فن التّصويرالفوتوغرافي ليس فقط أخذً الصّور الجيّدة . إنّه أسلوب لممارسة تجربة الحياة .
لا أفكّركثيراً في الصّور التي التقطها أثناء تصويرها .غالباً ما يأتي التّفكير فيما بعد .
أحيانًا آخذ صورةً لأننيّ أشعر بألفة اللّحظة مع شخص, مكان, وقت معيّن من اليوم.
لكنّ فيما بعد أعاود مشاهدة الصّور مرارًا وتكرارًا لاتحقّق من الانطباع الأوّل أو أهمله, لكنّ في معظم الحالات أكتشف أن انطباعاتي الأولى كانت صحيحةً.
القاهرة المدينة التي قضيت فيها حياتي بالكامل حتّى الآن : 32 سنةً,أليس ذلك بالوقت الكافي ليسيطر على شعور بأن ينبغي أن أخبر عنها ؟ أنا لم اكن أبدًا خارج مصر, و لوقت طّويل جدًّا كانت القاهرة - المدينة, المدينة الوحيدة,بل هي بالنسبة لي كانت العالم.
أسمي تلك المجموعة من الصور باليوميات الفوتوغرافيّة لأنّ إعادة النّظر على هذه الصّور, يشعرني بقراءتهم,أو أراهم كرواية جيّدة أو مجموعة من القصص القصيرة, أوحتى قصائد. لكنّ ليكون اقرب الي حقيقتهم : كانوا يوميات
